INVESTMENT POTENTIAL
Buying a limited edition print has an investment potential, but first and foremost it is important to buy images that you like and that you feel you will enjoy living with, in your home or place of work, for a long time. Photography is a contemporary art medium and, from a price perspective, it is one of the more accessible art mediums to collect.
My scale pricing is one adopted in various forms by many galleries – Print nos. 1 and 2 of the edition: price as quoted; Nos. 3 and 4: +15%; Nos. 5 and 6: +20%; No. 7: + 50%; No. 8: +100%. This system gives collectors the opportunity of buying an early edition print number at an affordable price and then to benefit from the investment potential as an edition sells out and prints become less available or unavailable.
You might not be considering buying a print as an investment, but who doesn’t like to know that the value of something that they have bought has gone up.
