I was born on a Tuesday at 10.40am in San Juan de Dios Hospital in Manila, the capital of The Philippines. As the old nursery rhyme goes, 'Tuesday's child is full of grace' - others can be the judge of that, but I do know that my love for travel began here.

Education After training as a journalist on a local newspaper in Sussex, I completed, with Distinction, from 1974 to 1977, a Higher National Diploma in Creative Photography at the London College of Printing (now the London College of Communication, part of the University of the Arts).

Photography In 1977, I started freelancing as a photographer for publications in the UK and internationally and became known for my environmental portraiture, interiors, architectural, travel and documentary photography. My work has been published in a number of magazines and newspaper supplements, including: Conde Nast Traveler (US), Conde Nast Traveller (UK), Departures, Discover, Forbes, Fortune, GQ, Guardian Weekend, Harpers & Queen, House and Garden, Image, The Independent, The Independent on Sunday Review, Newsweek, Oxygen, Saga, The Observer, The Sunday Times, The Telegraph, Vanity Fair, Vogue, W, The Weekend Financial Times, The World of Interiors.

Exhibitions I have had various exhibitions and awards including: ‘Dreamland’ - Impressions Gallery of Photography, 1983; The National Theatre, London, 1984. John Kobal Photographic Portrait Award, 1994 (Highly Commended), 1998 and 1999 (Runner-up). Association of Photographers Awards, 1989/1998/1999. Brighton Photo Fringe 2010. Foto8 Summershow 2011. 1st Place International Photography Awards 2012. Lensmodern Retrospective 2008 to 2014 - AM Tunnel (Galerie d’Art Contemporain & Espace Edward Steichen), Luxembourg, 2014.

Travel Over a period of seven months in 2007 and 2008, I lived and travelled extensively in Cuba, resulting in the publication, in November 2009, of my first two photography books, ‘CUBA cubanas y cubanos’ and ‘Atados al Mar’. I have, since then, published three more titles under my own imprint thePICTURE – ‘Places of Interest and Little Importance’, ‘Seagulls Are Magic WEST’, and ‘3 Days in December’. All five books are out of print but are still available as eBook digital editions from the Apple iBook Store.

I currently live on the Greek island of Tinos in the northern Cyclades, where, amongst other things, I continue to make photographs and to produce my limited edition prints.
